About Our Chapter
In 2001 the STAR FM Breakfast Crew visited the Children’s Ward at Wagga Base Hospital and were made aware of the need for low-cost accommodation for parents and siblings of patients on the children’s ward who had to travel for treatment. This grew to the STAR FM Kids Kottage Appeal, raising thousands of dollars to establish a “home-away-from-home” for families with sick or injured children from around the Riverina, South West Slopes and beyond.
RMHC acknowledged the need for the facility and agreed to support the Kids Kottage Appeal to form the first regional Ronald McDonald House in Australia.
The House was built with the fantastic support of the community, with many giving their time to build the House.
Our Wagga Wagga House gives seriously ill children the best gift of all – their families. Our warm and supportive home-away-from-home provides the whole family with a comfortable place to stay and peace of mind, knowing they can stay together and close to their child’s hospital.
Ronald McDonald House Wagga is small but well-equipped. With several communal spaces for socialising and a close-knit community vibe, you’ll be in company of other parents, carers and staff, who often become a vital part of your journey and support network .
